1. Plan a trip to any place away from Singapore Face it, no matter how charged you are, you need the recharge once in a while. And what better time to do this than early in the year, or even the end of the year to start your new year in 2010 fresh and ready to take that extra leap! Forget your work laptops and leave everything down! You will be amaze how much the positive impact can be on your work, after the holiday.
2. Start an enrichment course In this era, knowing one more language is certainly worth the effort. Forget French or German if you do not know your mother tongue for a start. Brush up on your Mandarin/Tamil/Bahasa Melayu if you haven done so. The South Asia/Asia region is gonna be the prospect in the next 10 years. For those up to the challenge, Bahasa Indonesia can be very good asserts to have in a few years to come. Alternatively, for those who are not so linguistically inclined (yes, not all of us can speak 10 languages), why not enroll for a course? It could be a bachelor or masters degree, or even a certificate, whichever works for you. Word of caution though, remember to consider the level of commitment you can devote into this new endeavor.
3. Embark/Adopt a cause With the recent hype over environmental concern, it is not surprising that we at ZAMPLE|MAN are also advocating the same cause. Start a personal mission to use less paper, or to recycle the paper you use in work or study. Switch off the lights at home when you don’t need them. Walk instead of driving your car if you are going to the shopping center beside your place. Help the environment and save some money in the process too. Alternatively, why not do some charity work and be a volunteer. It could be a volunteering job for the local park’s authority or some old folks home. Everyone could play a part by just giving an hour of their time weekly or even monthly - you don’t need to be a full fledge 7 days a week volunteer.
4. Show more concern for your family and loved ones If you have been neglecting your family and loved ones due to your commitment everyday, why not take this chance to start afresh and give them a good ‘sayang’ (colloquial in Bahasa Melayu for the act of doting and showing affection). For those of us (yes, me included) who do not express our emotions well, why not conjure up a magical dinner for your family or loved ones? Get some easy to prepare food on the web such as salad, and give your family and loved ones that pampering they deserve so much.
